This list is the result of a study carried out to find which sites appear most frequently in link pages taken from a sample of different EFL/ESL sites: official sites of educational organisations and bodies, multimedia publishers, teachers' personal home pages, etc.
Presented in alphabetical order, the links in this list do not necessarily lead to home pages, especially where the site concerned is a wide-ranging, complex one like, say, that of a university. In such cases, the link leads to the page that the study identified as the most common entry point to ESL/EFL services.
A sample set of 163 link pages was processed. Each page was purged of all internal URLs, i.e. those belonging to the same site as that of the link page itself. The sample yielded a total of 4040 URLs. Further processing enabled us to group these by site and to analyse the number of times any page on that site appeared in the sample. In all, 1863 sites were identified. The site that figured most frequently in the sample appeared 166 times, with links to 79 of its pages.
Thanks to Mauro Tavella and Michele Piccazzo for their invaluable technical support.
