WHAT
IS ESSEDIQUADRO?
Welcome to Essediquadro, an online service that provides
comprehensive, up-to-date information on educational
software from both Italy and abroad. We also offer support
and guidance for integrating software and multimedia
into the teaching and learning process.
WHO
RUNS IT?
Essediquadro is run by the Institute
for Educational Technology (ITD) under the auspices
of Italy’s Ministry
of Education, University and Research.
ITD is located in Genoa, north-west Italy, and is one
of the institutes throughout the country that together
make up the National
Research Council (CNR).
WHO
IS IT FOR?
Essediquadro is designed to meet the needs of the Italian-speaking
education community. Most users are primary and secondary
school teachers in Italy.
WHAT
DOES IT OFFER?
At the heart of Essediquadro is a searchable catalogue
listing educational software for all school levels and
disciplines, with particular attention to special education
needs. Other services include subject area software
surveys, teaching modules, classroom reports, special
open source section, web site guides, and more. The
software database also serves as the online catalogue
of the Educational Software Library (Biblioteca
del Software Didattico), which the Institute
has been running in Genoa since 1985.
Please note that Essediquadro does not sell or distribute
commercial software products.
HOW
CAN I USE IT?
Learn more about Essediquadro and how it works by taking
the guided tour in English. To become
an Essediquadro user, you first need to register. Registration
is safe and absolutely free of charge. Complete the
online
registration form and automatically you’ll
be sent an email message with your personal user code
and password (to be inserted in the login box which
will appear automatically when you access Essediquadro
services). Keep a record of these for future reference
but if you do lose them, just send
us an email message.
IS
THERE ANYTHING TO SEE IN ENGLISH?
As well as the guided tour, there are
some EFL/ESL/EAL software surveys in English:
and
also a guide to EFL
Resources on the Web.
Note
too that the items in Essediquadro’s main menu are
explained in English in the mouse-over boxes: position
your mouse pointer on an item and the box will appear.
